I used the little available work time over the holiday break to put this valentine collection together. This time I added a couple of stand alone images that would look nice on cards or prints.
A few weeks ago I visited my 6 year old’s k/1 class at Teton Valley Community School to talk about what I do and to create a pattern with them inspired by their school. Each student drew an element that I put together into a fun, colorful pattern. There are rainbows, alpacas, chickens, lots of sunflowers, a couple of maps and even a a pregnant pink unicorn.
I’m sad to see the end of another amazing class by Victoria Johnson but excited so see how what I’ve learned shows up in my work. For week 3, indigo, I tried a few different techniques and style and chose marker + posca pen for the final. I ordered some masking fluid and am looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.
This week’s style was tropical. I loved working with large shapes and interesting color palettes but struggled a bit with having the elements flow naturally. My style is a little stiff and jerky but I still came up with some things that I like.
